- Leipzig’s Völkerschlachtdenkmal. If we'd been on our own, we may not have taken the time on our short visit to travel by tram (Lines 2 and 15, 2.60 EUR, 25 minutes) to Völkerschlachtdenkmal(Leipzig's Napoleon monument).
- Walk Leipzig City Centre. Leipzig has great atmosphere and it’s fun to just walk around and get a bit lost while seeking out amazing photo spots.
- Experience Universität Leipzig. Leipzig is a university town and the campus is integrated into the city. We spotted an old church that had been taken over, renovated, and converted into part of the university.
- Climb City-Hochhaus in Leipzig. City-Hochhaus is the tallest building in Leipzig and we made our way there since the sun was shining and beautiful views were expected.
- Visit Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. Who doesn’t want to be able to say they’ve been to the highest point in Germany? If it isn’t cloudy (which it invariably is sometimes) Zugspitze is easily spotted from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and, indeed, even from Munich on clear days.
- Walk around Lake Eibsee and take in the magical views. Lake Eibsee has to be the most beautiful lake in Bavaria, if not in the whole of Germany. It’s definitely one of the prettiest ones we’ve ever seen!
- Get a new perspective from the top of Alpspitze. Alpspitze is one of the other mountains you can take a cable car to in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The view from up here is quite different than from Zugspitze.
- Hike the stunning Partnachklamm Gorge. Visiting the Partnachklamm (Partnach Gorge) is one of the most popular activities in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It’s exciting and hiking here feels like a true adventure.
- Days 1 – 4: Vienna and Wachau Valley. The capital of Austria, Vienna rests on the Danube River, which runs for 1770 miles and through 10 countries. Vienna is famous for many things such as its opera and the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna Opera House), stunning baroque architecture, music, and tasty schnitzel, strudel and coffee, just to name a few.
- Days 5 – 6: Salzburg and Hallstatt. Day 5: Vienna to Salzburg Travel Schedule. Depart Wien Hauptbahnhof, Vienna early morning. Time on train – 2h 26m. Arrive Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Salzburg.
- Day 7: Innsbruck. Day 7: Salzburg to Innsbruck Travel Schedule. Depart Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Salzburg early in the morning. Time on train – 1 hr 50 min. Arrive Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, Innsbruck.

There’s a lot you can do and see in lovely Tübingen in 1 or more days. If you’re short on time, head right to the Altstadt (Old Town). If you have more time, branch out and explore beyond the city center, pop into a museum, take a boat ride, enjoy a restaurant, and do some shopping.
