You can walk up to this impressive Tudor gatehouse built in 1501 by Henry VII. It started off as a substantial manor house in 1125 and became a royal manor house in 1327.
Richmond Castle is spectacularly sited above the cliff-lined valley of the River Swale. The 12th-century keep, symbolising the power and strength of its builder, Duke Conan of Brittany, dominates the surviving remains.
