Bassist Barry Jepson and drummer Haq Nawaz "Aky" Qureshi had formed the band with a guitarist now only known as Mick. The band rehearsed for about 7 months before playing their first show.

The Cult are an English hard rock band from Bradford. Formed in April 1983, the group were originally known as SOUTHERN Death Cult, then Death Cult and finally, The Cult. They featured vocalist Ian Astbury, guitarist Billy Duffy, bassist Jamie Stewart and drummer Ray "Mondo" Taylor-Smith.

Lindsey aka Ian Astbury went on to form Death Cult with Theatre Of Hate's Billy Duffy. Burrows, Jepson, and Quereshi became Getting The Fear (later Into A Circle ), while drummer Quereshi formed Fun-Da-Mental in the late 80s and is now known as Aki Nawaz.
