Psych-Out is a 1968 American psychedelic film about hippies, psychedelic music and recreational drugs starring Susan Strasberg, Jack Nicholson (the film's leading man despite being billed under supporting player Dean Stockwell) and Bruce Dern. It was produced and released by American International Pictures.

Starring Susan Strasberg, Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, Max Julien and Dean Stockwell, the plot involved a deaf girl who runs off to San Francisco to look for her mysteriously missing brother.
Arriving in the hippie-filled Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, Jenny befriends a rock group with heavy psychedelic leanings, becoming close to band member Stoney (Jack Nicholson).

Produced by American Bandstand host Dick Clark (it was his feature film debut as a producer), Psych-Out was made to capitalize on the success of Roger Corman's previous counterculture film, The Trip (1967) and even recast two of the main actors, Susan Strasberg and Bruce Dern. Jack Nicholson was also involved with both productions.
