Heinrich Parler's son, Peter Parler, became one of the greatest architects of the Gothic era. Heinrich's eldest son, Johann Parler the Elder, worked as a builder in Zwettl and then at Basel Cathedral.
He is likely the son of Johann Parler the Elder and the brother of Michel of Freibourg. We have traces of his activity in Schwäbisch Gmünd through a statue of Christ carrying the Cross. In the 1370s, he was in Prague with Peter Parler at St. Vitus Cathedral.
German master-masons working in Swabia and Bohemia in C14 and early C15. Heinrich I (c. 1300–1371) was Parlier (foreman with responsibility for a Mason's lodge) at Cologne Cathedral, when the choir was completed c.1322, but other works proceeded very slowly.
Heinrich Parler, father of the masterbuilder family, presumably came from Cologne. It was him who built the Minster of the Holy Cross in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which is considered to be the initial building of the Late Gothic period in Central Europe.
