Currently, there are over 600 trees including approximately 145 species in Wright Park. The early Park Board and superintendents took great care to make Wright Park a showpiece for the developing city of Tacoma, arranging a wide diversity of trees along pathways and in shady groves.

Wright Park’s 27-acre site includes a rich collection of native and exotic trees, many of which are over 100 years old. The original plantings included trees from all over North America and Europe. Later plantings added trees from Asia and South America.

Description. Contact. This 27-acre arboretum is home to a rich collection of more than 600 trees. This is an all-around great city park that makes Tacoma feel very welcoming, cozy, and gives the city character.
The Park was established in 1886 from land donated by Charles B. Wright on behalf of the Tacoma Land Company. The Park was designed by Bavarian landscape architect, Edward Otto Schwagerl. Encompassing 27 acres, this arboretum is home to more than 616 trees, with over 128 individual species.
