The Kantō region (関東地方, Kantō-chihō, IPA: [ka(ꜜ)ntoː tɕiꜜhoː]) is a geographical region of Honshu, the largest island of Japan. In a common definition, the region includes the Greater Tokyo Area and encompasses seven prefectures: Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa.

The Kantō region (関東地方, Kantō-chihō) is one of Japan's regions. The Japanese conventions of geography and history divide the nation into eight regions, including the Kantō region. These have been used since 1905 as basic units for description and comparison and as cultural markers.
The region was very marked in 1923 by the great earthquake, which caused extensive damage and more than 100,000 deaths. Today, Kanto is Japan's most developed, urbanized, and wealthiest region. It also concentrates a great tourist activity, mainly thanks to Tokyo, but also major sites such as Nikko and Kamakura.
