The ivory silk-organza, georgette, and chiffon dress is a masterpiece, fusing luxe textures and fabrics. The design really has an underwater aesthetic, with cascading tiers falling to the floor.

The dress and sash are made of lilac and silver brocade, while the silk jacket is embroidered with silver thread. The top nude section is also embroidered with silk thread – all of which makes for a vibrant finish.

Alexander McQueen collections are never short on drama, and this is ensemble no exception! The red coat is silk-satin and the embroidered ivory dress is silk-chiffon with crystal beads.

This dress was crafted from black duck feathers with an architectural approach to the silhouette. Granted, its not practical or something to be worn on the red carpet, but it demonstrates McQueen’s extraordinary showmanship and theatricality.

A dress constructed out of razor-clam shells which were stripped and varnished, this intricately crafted design showcases Alexander McQueen’s boldness and unbounded creativity.

This dress taken from the A/W 06-07 collection is made from pheasant feathers which have been delicately layered and fixed into place. The outcome is a beautifully full and textured dress with varieties of colours.

A look that compromises of a dress, leggings, and “Armadillo” boots (that are themselves embroidered with iridescent enamel paillettes), makes up the Jellyfish by McQueen. A forward-thinking and futuristic look from the fashion house, that changes colour thanks to the light-refracting beads.

This nude silk-organza embroidered dress with silk flowers is yet another theatrical and romantic creation from the designer. Not only are there appliquéd man made flowers, but fresh flowers were also used – a true work of art.

Of course, the number 1 dress has to be thatwedding dress worn by Kate Middleton back in 2011 at the royal wedding. The dress, designed by Sarah Burton, was decorated with delicate lace appliqué flowers and was handcrafted using the Carrickmacross lace-making technique. Being the most talked about dress of the year and representing a new era for th...
