The book is fabulous. The movie is a little strained. The movie is bogged down by all the dumb letters Roy Scheider writes home, the contemporary electronic score, and the spaceships, which seem to move too fast. Not to mention the crappy Russian accent from McGyver's boss.

The cast is good, it's very creepy at moments, and the general vibe of "spelunking through this celebrated space wreck" being mirrored by the movie itself revisiting the (rebuilt) sets and characters from 2001 is very satisfying. A thriller investigating an artsy space epic. Has anyone else enjoyed this movie as much as I did? Share Add a Comment.
