May 11, 2007 · For anyone that has been to Bad Aibling Station / Mietraching lately, I would really like to know if the Maxlrain brewery is still in operation. One of my fondest memories while stationed there from '66 to '68 is to sit in the Maxlrain brewery's biergarten and look towards the Wendelstein and the rest of the bavarian alps.
The rearmament program included the establishment of an air force with a network of bases across Germany. The Luftwaffe chose the farm fields near Mietraching, a village outside Bad Aibling, as the site of a new fighter base near the Austrian border, and construction began in mid-1936.
