Better Call Saul’s new season jumps right back in to the Sandpiper case, law firm culture, Chuck and Jimmy’s now-frosty relationship, as well as Jimmy’s budding romance with Kim, and his association with Mike (who is now an entrenched ally).
Showing 133 User Reviews. 7. skywhy. Apr 2, 2023. "Better Call Saul" is distinct from its predecessor, but in a positive manner. It is unquestionably a fitting follow-up to "Breaking Bad"! The cinematography, writing, and editing are all extraordinary. We are incredibly fortunate to have been gifted with such a high-caliber spin-off.
These first three episodes--all that were available to press--are masterful displays of the subtle impact of tragedy on behavior, all against the backdrop of an increasingly-heated drug war that we know will eventually help turn Jimmy into Saul.

If the first season of AMC's Better Call Saul explained the "why" of con artist-turned-lawyer Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) transition to lawyer-for-criminals Saul Goodman, then Season 2 is looking to examine the "how."

It's fitting, then, that the title of Better Call Saul's Season 2 premiere is called "switch." The episode picks up moments before the end of Season 1 as we see Jimmy grappling with the realization he doesn't need to appease his lying older brother anymore and can be just as felonious as he desires. The viewer follows him as he shuts down the offer to join the new firm, and again sees him asking his rhetorical question to Mike (Jonathan Banks) about why they didn't just keep the million dollars when they had it in their grasp.
"Switch" marks a solid return for Better Call Saul as we begin to see the "how" of Jimmy's transition into Saul Goodman be explored.
