   • The Cold Cold Ground by Aussie/Irish author Adrian McKinty is the first in the Sean Duffy series, and what an enthralling start! With full-on action, dry humour, music and vodka gimlets (Duffy’s favourite tipple) I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and am looking forward to the next in the series. Recommended. Really it's more like 4.5 stars.

   How good is the Cold Cold Ground?

   • Really it's more like 4.5 stars. The Cold Cold Ground is the first book of what has now become a series revolving around Detective Sean Duffy a Catholic cop in the middle of the protestant end of Ireland in the 1980s. Not a good place to stay alive so it's a good thing they have Duffy, a sharp, educated "peeler" who is as tenacious as a bulldog.
