Cuyamaca Rancho State Park is a state park in inland San Diego County, Southern California, United States, located 40 miles (64 km) east of the metropolitan area of San Diego. The park is situated near the southernmost reaches of the vast Cleveland National Forest, as well as the Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountains of the Peninsular Ranges.
The name "Cuyama" comes from an Indian village named Kuyam. Cuyama is located on California State Route 166 2.5 miles (4 km) east of its much larger neighbor New Cuyama. [6] South of the town is the Sierra Madre mountain range, most of which is included in the Los Padres National Forest.
