May 13, 2015 · The PDK gearbox was available for Porsche 997 Carrera and Turbo models 2009 to 2012. The GT-models where only available with manual gearboxes. Porsche’s PDK is a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The PDK gearbox functions very much like a manual gearbox with the exception that the driver doesn't engage/dis-engage the clutch.
Dec 8, 2019 · For reference the PDK model used in the Carreras (and also Boxsters and Caymans) is a ZF model 7DT45. 911 Turbos use a ZF model 7DT70 which is identical to the ZDT45 except it has a heavy duty clutch, strengthened major components, and slightly different gear ratios.
Mar 14, 2015 · Yes, I know a small number of early PDK's had some computer wiring problems that led to a major mechanical failure of the transmission. Yes, I know some folks are concerned about possible valve deposits due to direct injection.
May 11, 2023 · Porsche’s PDK transmission is a dual-clutch transmission with seven forward gears. Built by ZF, it uses separate clutches for each of the rotating gear shafts that allow each shaft to pre-select the next gear so that shifts happen in a hundredth of a second.
In Sport Plus Mode, the 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera with a seven-speed PDK shifted 0.4 seconds more quickly than the one with a manual six-speed transmission. It translated to 4.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h for the 2008 all-wheel-drive 911 Carrera 4 as opposed to 5.0 seconds for the PDK.
