Laraine Newman (born March 2, 1952) is an American actress, comedian, and writer. Newman was part of the original cast of NBC's sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from its inception in 1975 until her departure in 1980. Newman took an interest at improv at Beverly Hills High School.
Actress: Problem Child 2. Laraine Newman is a founding member of The Groundlings. After seeing her in The Groundlings, Lorne Michaels cast her in a Lily Tomlin Special and later as an original cast member of Saturday Night Live (1975). She has worked from directors ranging from Woody Allen to Guillermo del Toro.

Mar 16, 2021 · Newman, who turned 69 this month, is in a good place to look back. She’s been sober for decades and is busy doing voice acting for a variety of projects, including “Despicable Me” films, “American Dad!” and “Doc McStuffins,” along with occasional screen roles. She’s proud of her children Hannah and Spike Einbinder, both working actors.
