- Sagrada Família. WHERE: Barcelona, Spain. Architect Antoni Gaudi’s famous basilica in Barcelona has been under construction since 1882! The plans for the neo-gothic church changed when Gaudi took over from Francisco de Paula del Villar a year into its construction and transformed it entirely.
- National Monument of Scotland. WHERE: Edinburgh, Scotland. Atop Calton Hill in Edinburgh, the National Monument of Scotland was planned as a replica of the Parthenon in Athens.
- Ryugyong Hotel. WHERE: Pyongyang, North Korea. The tallest structure in North Korea—also known as the “hotel of doom”—stands abandoned and empty in Pyongyang, with nary a guest walking its doors.
- Deutsches Stadion. WHERE: Nuremburg, Germany. Hitler wanted to build the largest stadium in the world in Nuremberg. He unveiled the six-foot model to thousands of spectators in 1937.

- La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona. The Basílica I Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, shortened to La Sagrada Familia, has been under construction for over 100 years.
- Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The largest art museum in America is also unfinished. While it has been open since 1872, work on the museum in New York City continued for decades, with architect Richard Morris Hunt commissioned to transform the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s front facade into something timeless.
- Alai Minar, Delhi. Alauddin Khalji of the Khalji dynasty was the mastermind behind the Alai Minar. The free-standing tower was meant to be around 478 feet tall, twice the size of the famed UNESCO-listed Qutb Minar.
- Sathorn Unique Tower, Bangkok. Bangkok is home to many unfinished structures, but none are as present in the city’s skyline as Sathorn Unique Tower. Designed and developed by architect Rangsan Torsuwan, the looming structure was envisioned as a luxury apartment building with 47 floors and over 600 units.
- Ryugyong Hotel. The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea should have been opened in 1989, but the structure was never completed. At that time, it would have been the seventh-largest skyscraper and the tallest hotel in the world.
- Bara Kaman. Bara Kaman is the unfinished mausoleum of Ali Adil Shah II, who was the eighth and second-to-last king of the Adil Shah dynasty in Bijapur (also known as Vijayapura) in India.
- La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia, which was inspired by nature and faith, has been under construction since 1882. The basilica is currently 70-percent completed, and they are working on building the six central towers.
