The US issue of Gather Me ( NRS 47001) saw the launch of Melanie's own record label Neighborhood. However, in the UK Buddah Records still had a contract for one more album and so it was released here as Buddah Deluxe 2322 002. Of course the album produced Melanie's biggest hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Melanie has a sharp, emotion-ridden voice, one that can make a good song magnificent or a mediocre one tolerable. On her new album, the material is largely mediocre, consequently the end product is tolerable-decent but not equal to her last LP, " The Good Book ", released on the Buddah label.
