Hans Jacob (Jappe) Stang døde 5. april 2013. Han ble 79 år. Med ham er en særpreget personlighet i norsk medisin gått bort. Jappe var eldst av fire brødre. Faren, som var lege, gikk ned med panserskipet Norge på Narvik havn 9. april 1940. Hans mor ble dermed sittende igjen med fire små gutter i alderen 6 – 2 år.
