He attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art where he learned from instructors like Irwin Hasen and Hal Campagna. In 2006, Thom debuted the first issue of his popular superhero/romantic-comedy series, Love and Capes.
He’s particularly known for his romantic comedy comics. In 2006, he debuted Love and Capes , the superhero romantic comedy about the adventures in love of an ordinary bookstore owner and her accountant boyfriend… who also happens to be the superhero The Crusader.

Zahler told Variety that on June 22, 2006, he began his career at NYU film school as a cinematographer. In 2004, he wrote six scripts, including a western that topped the Black List entitled, The Brigands of Rattleborge, which Park Chan-wook was set to direct.
"Mr. Zahler first started painting images with words. Then he used his words with a camera to thrill, intimidate, and scare. Now he has turned his attention to the medium of comics and I am now filled with intimidation, trepidation, and realized expectations.
Currently, he is the writer and artist of the hit Warning Label comic on Line Webtoons, featuring a girl curse by her ex-boyfriend that every guy who asks her out gets the list of what they need to watch out for. And he just completed Time and Vine for IDW, about a magical time-traveling winery.
