Access Datasets on Data.CDC.gov. The provisional counts for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are based on a current flow of death data submitted to the National Vital Statistics System. National provisional counts include deaths occurring within the 50 states and the District of Columbia that have been received and coded as of the date specified.
This means someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19 and has either been in close contact with a positive case, or is in a particularly COVID-affected area. 1. Confirmed case.
