The Hyundai Rotem EMU (also known as R-Train or 1141B) ( Chinese: 港鐵東鐵綫現代列車) is a current model of heavy rail electric multiple units used on the Mass Transit Railway in Hong Kong. The 9-car sets are manufactured by Hyundai Rotem for the North South Corridor, an extension of the East Rail line, at a cost of HK$ 4 billion.
In this project, Hyundai Rotem will secure the core element technologies of the 370 km/h high-speed train (EMU-370) based on the EMU-320, including the conceptual design of the vehicle and safety verification due to acceleration for the commercialization of the EMU-370.
The 22 m long stainless steel cars will be formed into 10 and five-car EMUs. Some production will be carried out locally by Eurotem, Hyundai Rotem's joint venture with Turkish rolling stock manufacturer TÜVASAŞ. The cars will arrive in three batches, the first 160 cars by 2011, the last by June 2014.
Hyundai Rotem's high-speed train has propulsion devices dispersed in arrangement, and features improved transport capacity compared to existing power-concentrated high-speed train.
The KTX-Eum (Korean: KTX-이음, formerly known as EMU-260) or Korail Class 150000 is a South Korean high-speed electric multiple unit train manufactured by Hyundai Rotem and operated by Korail. The word 'eum' in Korean means 'uniting through connection'.
