     There are many ways to annotate a speech corpus - meaning that there is not the one correct way of annotation. A good overview to that topic is given here.

     Annotation always relates to the speech aspect you want to investigate and the stage of speech processing you are aiming at. Just think about several tasks within Natural Language Processing.

     • Automatic Speech Recognition: Here, a correct annotation would be the exact transcription of what is being said. Additionally, transcriptions here can be made on word-, syllable- or triphone-level.
     • Speaker Recognition: When voice characteristics are used to classify the speaker of a specific utterance, the annotation might just apply to the speaking person.
     • Emotional Alignment: For a classification, whole sentences or utterances needs to be labeled with the underlying emotion.

     All in all, annotating a speech corpus means to manually add labels to it, but you should always be specific in what you want describe or investigate and why.

     Objective of this code is to copy first 4 bytes present at msg->data[0] to LPC_CAN1->TDA1.

     &msg->data[0] gives the address of msg->data[0].

     (uint32_t *) &msg->data[0] casts that address to be an address pointing to a 32-bit unsigned integer.

     *(uint32_t *) &msg->data[0] reads uint32_t value (4-byte unsigned integer) from the address.

     Yes, this instruction is doing exactly what you think it's doing.

     Most x86 arithmetic instructions take two operands: a source and a destination. In AT&T syntax (used here), the destination is always the right operand. So with an instruction like:

     addl %edx, %eax-

     the values in edx and eax are added together and the result is stored in eax. However, in your example, (%eax) is a memory operand; that's what parentheses mean in AT&T syntax (like square-brackets in NASM syntax).

     This means that eax is treated as a pointer, so the right operand is taken from the address pointed to by eax, and the result is stored to the same address.

     The :t (short for :type) syntax is special to GHCi, and is not part of the Haskell language syntax. This is similar to how the SQLite interpreter accepts .tables as a command, even though this isn't valid a SQL statement. If you type :?, you can see a complete list of all the commands GHCi understands.

     As for using the colon in actual Haskell code:

     • A colon by itself is a list constructor. This is a reserved name, and can never be redefined.
     • You should know that function names always start lowercase, while constructor names always start uppercase. Well, in a similar way, an infix constructor must start with a colon, whereas a normal infix operator must not start with a colon (but may contain colons elsewhere).

     So, for example, "?:?" is a legal operator name, and :?? is a legal constructor operator name.
