Avast/AVG is a good AV, though be aware that they were previously exposed as selling user data, and they continue to include scareware-esque 'upselling' spam in their notifications and even scan results.    • AVG is not a bad antivirus, but there are some better alternatives in my opinion like Kaspersky or BitDefender. Stay safe! I recently switched to Bitdefender after years of Avast. I actually liked Avast a lot better but it got way to pricey. But I'll probably switch back after my two years I've already paid for are up.

   Is Avg a good ad blocker?

   • AVG is pretty crappy as a tool. More useful for serving you a constant stream of ads for their paid services than anything else. Bitdefender or Kaspersky Cloud are the best free ones that I can think of. Bitdefender have dropped their free AV. How did that work, though? I still have it and haven’t seen any difference.

   Does Avg take over your PC?

   • AVG makes me feel like it's taking over my PC, while trying to sell me more AVG products at the same time, like it's VPN, then it disables whatever product I have installed, say like a VPN service like Surf shark, and set's up it's own VPN, which I didn't want to do, which I didn't ask it to do.
