Live Flesh (Spanish: Carne trémula) is a 1997 erotic romantic thriller drama film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, based on the 1986 novel of the same name by English author Ruth Rendell. It was the inspiration for a film of the same name by Pedro Almodóvar. Like so many other movies by Aldomovar it would be a real spoiler to reveal things as the magic of the movie is to be found in its surprising storytelling that at first doesn't make that much sense but develops itself into a perfect, surprising story.
Almodovar, whose work here has newly sophisticated polish, appreciates the dark twists of this story along with the eroticism that bring heat to all the scheming. In "Live Flesh," he finds steamy, imaginative ways to show why the film's characters love one another to death.
