For example, Uncyclopedia's article about Wikipedia claims that Wikipedia is a parody of Uncyclopedia, not the reverse. Many articles on the site contradict each other, even articles on the same subject. [citation needed] Like Wikipedia's "Five pillars", Uncyclopedia has "Five pliers", including "Satirical point of view".
The Portuguese version of it had a lot of actual Wikipedia editors in it. It died down since some gave up on Wikipedia, so they would stop editing over Desciclopédia. That said, they made some very popular memes. That happened a long time ago. I started editing on Wikipedia around ~2017, so I only hear some gossip from that time.
It uses the same software, and many of the same templates. Different content, though. It's meant to be a parody for comedic effect.
- Encyclopedia Britannica. In terms of conventional online encyclopedias, this is Wikipedia’s main rival. Encyclopedia Britannica online is the most dependable and esteemed encyclopedia in the world.
- Citizendium. Larry Sanger, one of Wikipedia's founders, created Citizendium essentially as a sister site to Wiki. The main difference between the two sites is that Citizendium has a much better review process.
- Fact Monster. Another excellent site like Wikipedia is Fact Monster – a free online encyclopedia designed for children. The platform covers math and science, world history, arts, geography, and more.
- Conservapedia. Conservapedia came about as an alternative to Wiki's so-called left-wing bias. It is an ultra-conservative, Christian-influenced Wiki encyclopedia that leans far to the right.
Don't mean to quibble, but Uncyclopedia split from Wikia 18 months ago; the new site is at en.uncyclopedia.co.
