The working titles of this film were The Lady of New Orleans, Lady from New Orleans and Memphis Belle. According to a Hollywood Reporter news item, Mae Clarke was signed to a term contract by Republic in May 1941, and as her first assignment, was to have a "featured role" in the picture. She does not appear in the finished film, however.

Review by Rick Burin ½. Shallow, idiotic and quite staggeringly racist garbage about the owner of a Southern gambling steamship (Joan Blondell) trying to turn herself into a lady. Which she does by marrying an alcoholic aristocrat and hiring a load of strippers for her society ball, so good luck with that.
