Irene Dunne is a "Lady in a Jam." She has gone bankrupt and her possessions are being sold in an auction to pay her debts. But she is oblivious to her plight and doesn't take anything serious. Her lawyer or accountant, played by Eugene Palette, has been after her about her inevitable situation.

Review by Eloise ★★ Pretty dull material and sometimes insufferable execution in this, an unconvincing application of the restoration-of-riches comedy. It moves quickly enough, but it's not a film that earns or overcomes its frequent sexist and racist slander.

Feb 19, 2024 · When Reviewed. Rating. ★★ Watched by Tyler Bowders 21 May 2024. Is...Parker Posey an Irene Dunne character? I went in with high hopes, and enjoyed the first half hour. Ultimately though the gender dynamics here are atrocious*, especially for a 40s flick, and the humor is half baked at best. This won't make a Top 10 Irene Dunne list anytime soon.
