Fine was actually a skilled violinist in real life and had a rich history of musical ability.
At an early age, Fine started performing as a violinist in vaudeville. Between 1925 and 1928, while serving as the master of ceremonies at Rainbo Gardens in Chicago, Fine met Shemp Howard and Ted Healy, [8] who were performing in the Shubert Brothers' A Night in Spain.

Larry’s doctors recommended that he be given violin lessons as a form of therapy. Playing the violin was supposed to strengthen his damaged arm muscles. Larry’s skill as a violinist became so impressive that eventually, he began to play professionally.
