Two young boys are in church. One of the boys, Calvin, goes into the confessional booth and tells the priest about the sins he has committed in the last two weeks.

Calvin is playing outside in the snow when the priest has him come back inside. The priest invites him to be an altar boy the following week.

Calvin works as an altar boy and the priest compliments his work. His mother encourages him to be obedient to the priest.

Before serving as altar boy one morning, the priest takes Calvin into a "special confessional" where he instructs him to remove his clothing and stand naked before him.

Calvin objects to serving as an altar boy again, telling his mother that he is sick. He tells his mother that he is afraid of the priest but she encourages him not to be discouraged.

The priest discourages Calvin from confessing in the normal booth, reminding him that there is a "special confessional" for altar boys. Calvin admits to feeling badly about what the priest did to him. The priest punishes him for disobeying his instruction.

Calvin talks to his friends about what happened; they tell him to stop talking about it, and that priests can do whatever they want. The priest abuses him again at his next confession.

Calvin's mother disciplines him for being late to lunch and talking back. Calvin escapes his room and is seen praying.

The priest is shown admitting temptation in prayer and Calvin overhears him. The priest encourages him to forgive and remain an altar boy.

The priest asks Calvin to attend camp over the weekend and tells him how much fun the other boys have at camp. The priest coerces Calvin into letting him perform a physical exam. The epilogue describes the priest's extensive list of crimes against children.
