      • The building of mood and character in this film is terrific, with suspense tightly wired throughout. The two leads are good in their nerve-wracking roles. This was Lippert's most expensive film to date and the directorial debut of Warren, who had previously been a western novelist and screenwriter.

  6. Review by Christopher Moore ★★★½. Starts off slow, but you can tell the director, Charles Marquis Warren, had a good feel for an emotionally complex western. A cavalry troop is tasked with warning Custer of a large Sioux force being gathered at Little Big Horn.
