Lyse Lafontaine (born 1942) is a Canadian film producer known for working with directors Jean-Claude Lauzon and Xavier Dolan. She works at Lyla Films in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Lyse Lafontaine is one of Canada’s most highly regarded producers. A veteran of both film and television production, she has worked with some of the most respected names in the Canadian entertainment industry, including Jean-Claude Lauzon on the award winning film Léolo that she produced in 1992 (Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival & Golden Palm at Valladolid).
Lyse Lafontaine founded Lyla Films, in 1999. Her desire was to accompany writers and directors during the whole process of creation. She made sure that their vision was respected from the beginning to the end. Producing quality independent films that we could be proud of is what she aimed for.
Lafontaine formed Lyla Films in 1999 and returned to her first love of features with Les muses orphelines (2000), a Favreau-directed ’60s family drama. Supporting Lafontaine and Tremblay at the prodco today are business manager Hélène Thiffault, administrator Michel Goulet, accountant Alain Champagne and assistant Suzie Pilotte.
