Filter by Rating: 7/10. An unexpected reaction! Cal-16 11 December 1998. This is a really engaging story in which a boy takes over the male head-of-the-family role when his dad goes off to war. My reaction, tho, was probably quite the opposite from what Disney had in mind.

is a 1970 telefilm produced by Walt Disney Productions. It was originally broadcast on NBC as a two-part episode on The Wonderful World of Disney on March 1, and March 8, 1970. It was released theatrically in 1972. The telefilm was directed by Vincent McEveety.
During the Civil War, Jed McIver joins the Confederate Army, and asks his son, Jamie, to take care of his family in his absence. He decides to hunt for a mountain lion to collect a bounty and use the money from that to pay the taxes due. But he also has to contend with a bullying rival, who is also after the same bounty.
