    The Mystery Castle was made with an assortment of building materials like recycled car parts and plow discs. It was also constructed with traditional building supplies like stone and cement. Gulley made sure to follow the contour of the mountain to create the structure's unique shape and to save money by not having to dig into the ground.

    Mary Lou and her mother moved in shortly after Gulley died in 1945. Mary Lou called the 8,000-square-foot Mystery Castle home until she passed away in 2010.
