ND grew up in North Carolina, United States, with his parents and siblings. In July of 2018, he got engaged to fellow cartoonist Molly Ostertag and they were married in September of 2019. On July 14, 2020, Stevenson came out as nonbinary. On June 31, 2022, he posted a comic about solely going by he/him pronouns and choosing the names Nate and Indy.
