Jun 8, 2016 · North Augusta lies on the Savannah River opposite Augusta, Georgia. Incorporated on April 11, 1906, the city grew on the site of the antebellum town of Hamburg. Following that town’s demise after the Civil War, new families settled in the area, including the Butlers, Hahns, and Mealings.

Just about everyone has heard of Augusta, Ga., home of the Masters golf tournament. But just across the Savannah River from Augusta is a quaint little town called North Augusta, South Carolina. (You just know there is an advertising slogan in there somewhere.)
