2024 Peony Bloom W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden At Nichols Arboretum. Late May Through Early June - 1610 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI Visiting the Peony Garden at Nichols Arboretum – otherwise known as The Arb by us locals - is truly a treat. From the end of May to the beginning of June these magnificent flowers reach peak bloom.
The W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden at Nichols Arboretum is one of the world’s premiere collections. The garden holds nearly 800 peonies and over 10,000 flowers at peak bloom. Herbaceous peonies in southeast Michigan bloom from approximately Memorial Day to mid-June, depending on the weather.

The W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden is near the Washington Heights entrance to Nichols Arboretum (1610 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor). I was expecting a longer walk from the entrance to the peony garden. I’m just lucky to have picked the right entrance on our first visit.
