Pittsfield Charter Township is a charter township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 39,147 at the 2020 census.
Naming Pittsfield Township. The township of Pittsfield was organized according to the act of the Territorial Council, in 1834, its first town meeting being held in April of that year. Prior to the organization of the township, a meeting was held at the McCracken schoolhouse for the purpose of selecting a name.
Traffic Shifting on US-12/Michigan Avenue and Road Closure on Platt Road The US-12/Platt Road project is underway and currently in the beginning stages which includes work on the southern portion of Michigan Avenue from Platt Road to Carpenter Road and work at the intersection of Platt Road and US-12.
Community. History & Preservation. In 1824, Geo. W. Noyes made the first purchase of the federal land that would later become Pittsfield Township. This land is located in what is now Section 10 of the Township; section 10 is located between Platt and Stone School Roads, bordered by Packard Road on the north and Ellsworth Road on the south.

Pittsfield Township has a land area of 27.4 square miles. The Township is located in southeast Washtenaw County, Michigan. It is bordered on the north by the City of Ann Arbor, and by the City of Saline to the southwest. The city of Ypsilanti is less than a mile to the east.
