Poem 20 (English) I can write the saddest verses of all tonight. Write, for instance: "The night is full of stars, and the stars, blue, shiver in the distance." The night wind whirls in the sky and sings. I can write the saddest verses of all tonight. I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.
The Chilean poet Pablo Neruda included "Tonight I can write the saddest lines," a.k.a. "Poem 20," in his collection Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (Veinte poemas de amor y una cancion desesperada).
