Oct 23, 2001 · Hector MacDonald, played by Richard Briers, is to be killed off and laid to rest on a hillside overlooking his Glenbogle Estate. Richard, 67, has asked that the new series starting this Sunday night should be his last. And he was perfectly happy with the top-secret demise the script- writers came up with.
Richard Briers starred as Hector in the first three series of Monarch of the Glen from 2000 to 2002 (and as a guest in series 7 in 2005), a role which saw him return to the limelight.
