The Río Grande Gorge Visitor Center is located in the gateway community of Pilar at the intersection of New Mexico State Road 570 and New Mexico State Road 68. From May 1 through October, the Visitor Center and bookstore are open seven days per week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Winter hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days per week.
Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center provides information and interpretive exhibits about the Wild and Scenic Rio Grande and surrounding countryside. In the center's bookstore, operated by the nonprofit Public Lands Interpretive Association, visitors can find books, maps, and educational gifts and toys.
Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is only 20 minutes from Taos, so do visit, if you have time. The gorge is breathtaking and the best vistas are from the bridge. The walk on the bridge is very easy - good for all ages. The best spot to take great photos of the gorge is in the middle of the bridge.

RÍO GRANDE GORGE VISITOR CENTER. Located in Pilar, NM, at the intersection of NM 570 and NM 68 the Visitor Center provides information about the recreation experiences to be had in the area as well as about the geological and natural history of this diverse and interesting area.
The monument is open year around. The visitor center on Route 68, at the southernmost tip of the monument, is open 8 AM to 4:30 PM May through October; and 10 AM to 2 PM November through April. The Taos Visitor Center, is located at the south end of the village of Taos, also on Route 68 (aka Paseo Pueblo de Sur). It is open 9 AM to 5 PM every day.
