Robert Alexander Anderson (born January 26, 1946) is an American portrait artist known for painting the official portraits of George W. Bush and Alan Greenspan as well as designing United States postage stamps.
Robert A. Anderson graduated from Yale University in 1968 and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1969-1972, which included combat duty in Vietnam. He returned to study at the School of Fine Arts in Boston (1972-75) where he concentrated his talents on portraiture.

Robert Anderson (1842-1885) was a founder member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water Colours and an associate of the Royal Scottish Academy. He painted scenes of daily life in Scotland, such as Wick’s Black Saturday, a maritime tragedy of 1848.
