Jul 8, 2015 · Law and Order (1953) Ronald Reagan is Frame Johnson, the lawman who tamed Tombstone but has purchased a farm near Cottonwood with hopes of hanging up his guns and settling down with his fiance (Dorothy Malone). But Cottonwood is under the thumb of Kurt Durling (Preston Foster) and his sons.
Reagan began an all-out, two-year drive to wrest the 1976 nomination from incumbent Gerald R. Ford, an appointed vice president who became president on the resignation of Nixon. Reagan fell short by a handful of delegates to the Republican national convention.
The original Law and Order had no love interest at all; the Reagan version pairs up the star with beautiful Dorothy Malone, and offers a second leading lady in the form of Ruth Hampton. The original had a hanging sequence which was treated as business as usual; the remake turns this sequence into a brutal lynching.
