On November 17, 2020, it was announced Marcos Siega was set to direct the first six episodes of the limited series as well as serving as an executive producer alongside Hall, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and Scott Reynolds. In July 2021, it was announced that the series would premiere on November 7, 2021, on Showtime.

Starting out as an assistant on the 1981 film "Taps," starring Tom Cruise, Timothy Hutton, and Sean Penn, Colleton produced her first film, "Renaissance Man," in 1994. Following another nearly decade-long gap, she returned to producing in 2001 with "Riding in Cars with Boys."
