Shirley MacLaine (born as Shirley MacLean Beaty on 24 April 1934 in Richmond, Virginia, USA) is an American actress who portrays the mother of Cora Crawley, Martha Levinson. She first appears in Series 3 of Downton Abbey.
Shirley MacLaine was born to Virginia native Ira Owens Beaty, an US man, and Kathlyn Corinne MacLean, who is Canadian, from Nova Scotia. Her brother, Warren Beatty, was born on 30 March 1937.
