I come to the point park area of lookout mountain nearly every time I pass through the area. It is a great place to relax, get gentle exercise, enjoy a cigar outdoors and see breath taking views. Sunset on the west side at this rock is really relaxing. Driving back down the windy road just after dark is a little bit of a pain, but worth the effort!

Sunset Rock. Stretching along the western face of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Sunset Park is home to some of Tennessee’s finest single-pitch trad climbing. The hard sandstone provides great climbing and spectacular views of the valley below.
Mar 1, 2019 · Such a beautiful place to view Chattanooga from Lookout Mountain! Parking is free, but the lot has limited spots (about 8 spots). You enter through a gate and follow the stone pathway to Sunset Rock- about 15 min walk. One of the best stops during our trip!
Mike Windsor. Sunset Rock is an amazing place to, as the name suggests, watch a sunset. With sweeping views of the valley and Chattanooga off in the distance, this is a pristine summer and fall location for spending the end of a day. A number of trails connect this vantage point to the forest below.
