The Fields is a 2011 American suspense thriller directed by Tom Mattera and Dave Mazzoni. The film is touted as being a "semi-autobiographical account" of what happened to Harrison Smith, the film's writer, as a boy growing up on a grandparents' farm on the outskirts of Easton, Pennsylvania. [2] The film stars Cloris Leachman and Tara Reid.

Feb 18, 2024 · The film ends with a chilling twist, as the protagonist wakes up in a hospital bed, only to discover that the events in the field may have been a figment of their imagination. One interpretation of the ending is that the protagonist has been trapped in a loop of their own making, reliving the horrors of the field over and over again.

The cornfield is a horror trope that has been used countless times and it is utilised here yet again, to decent effect. The tall stalks can hide a myriad of horrors and on this occasion, they do just that.
