The Love Boat is an American romantic comedy - drama television series created by Wilford Lloyd Baumes that originally aired on ABC from September 24, 1977 to May 24, 1986. In addition, three TV movies aired before the regular series premiered and four specials and a TV movie aired after the series ended.
Award-winning anthropologist Milo Endler ( Harry Morgan) and Vivian ( Katherine Helmond ), his wife of fifteen years, are on their way to a dig in the South Pacific. Milo's disgraced colleague Deke Donner ( José Ferrer) once embezzled a university's money to bet on the horses at the racetrack.
The romantic-sounding Love Boat promises — and delivers — something for everyone. Specifically, it promises a cavalcade of famous guest stars (including many film stars making rare TV appearances), breezy plots, stories of love and plenty of laughs.
Three college girls try to put the moves on Ace, while Doc reveals a surprising diagnosis for a professional athlete in training. Then, Judy's soap-opera star aunt, Sylvia (Carol Channing), finds out her best friend (Betty White) is trying to go behind her back to get on the same daytime show.
A billionaire who secretly gave free cruises to six strangers is reported missing. Ace (Ted McGinley) suspects that one of the six cruise recipients murdered him. Emily (Marion Ross) searches for fulfillment as someone other than the Captain's wife. 8.4/10.
