The Weekend Away is a 2022 American thriller film directed by Kim Farrant from a screenplay by Sarah Alderson, based on Alderson's 2020 novel of the same name. [1][2] It follows a woman named Beth (Leighton Meester), who travels to Croatia for a weekend getaway with her best friend Kate.
At the end of Netflix's The Weekend Away, Beth gets to the truth of who killed her best friend—and in a shocking twist, it turns out to be the person closest to her all along.
Synopsis. New mom Beth (Leighton Meester) flies to Croatia for a getaway trip arranged by her newly divorced best friend, Kate (Christina Wolfe). At dinner, Beth confides that her marriage to her husband Rob (Luke Norris) has hit a dull patch and is uncertain what to do.
In the book The Weekend Away, Orla learns that Rob flew to Lisbon while she and Kate were there, making her suspicious of him, while in the movie, Beth does not find this out or even suspects Rob at all. Then, after Kate’s murder is seemingly solved, Orla and Rob return to London and spilt up.
