Russell is the deuteragonist of Disney/Pixar's 2009 animated feature film Up. He is a Junior Wilderness Explorer, who accompanied Carl Fredricksen to Paradise Falls. Russell loves being a wilderness explorer! He's earned every badge and has even explored the real wilderness.
One day, he meets Russell (Jordan Nagai), a young wilderness explorer scout who attempts to assist Carl in order to earn his 'assisting the elderly' badge. Carl tricks Russell into 'assisting' him by telling him to find and get rid of a 'snipe' that invades his yard.
Unlike most stories about leaving home, Up needed a house that would go along for the journey. The Pixar team treated Carl’s house like a film character, touring vintage Oakland and Berkeley neighborhoods to cast for the right mix of comfort and familiarity, with just a touch of melancholy.
