Vince Young was named the Rose Bowl's MVP for the second time in as many years (the first time being the 2005 Rose Bowl). He is only the fourth player in Rose Bowl history (and the only player from the Big 12 Conference) to accomplish this feat.

Quarterback Vince Young, who led the Texas Longhorns to back-to-back Rose Bowl Game victories in 2005 and 2006, is one of only four players to win Rose Bowl Player of the Game honors twice. Against Michigan in 2005, Young threw for 186 yards and a touchdown, while adding 192 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in Texas’ 38–37 victory.
